Creative Strategist
Also posted as: Creative Coordinator · Creative Ops Coordinator
Contract to Full Time · Remote · Reports to: CMO
POSITION SUMMARY
The Creative Strategist is responsible for developing the strategic and creative frameworks that guide our paid Meta campaigns and owning the day-to-day project management that keeps production on time and on-brief. This role bridges strategy and operations: you will write the briefs, coordinate the work, track performance, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
You will work autonomously and manage your own time while collaborating closely with designers, video editors, UGC creators, and media buyers in a fast-paced environment. If you thrive on structure, get excited by what the data says, and can write a tight brief in the same hour you update a project tracker, this role is for you.
This role starts hourly and part-time, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position based on performance and team fit.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Creative Strategy & Concept Development
With support from our Head of Strategy and the founders:
- Develop strategic and creative frameworks that align with brand goals, audience insights, and performance objectives.
- Lead the development of creative briefs that transform strategy into clear, actionable direction for designers, editors, and UGC creators: angle, hook, format, reference examples, and success metrics included.
- Conduct audience research, competitive analysis (Meta Ad Library), and cultural trend monitoring to inform creative direction and identify whitespace opportunities.
- Develop concepts across formats: static, video, UGC, carousel, story. Not just what it looks like, but why it should work.
- Facilitate brainstorms and ideation sessions; present creative concepts and storytelling recommendations to internal teams.
- Use AI tools to accelerate concept development, creative exploration, and brief-writing. Image generation, copywriting assistants, and AI-powered research tools are part of the workflow.
Project Management & Creative Ops
This is not a support function. You own the production pipeline:
- Manage our Notion ticket system on a daily basis: create tickets, assign owners, set due dates, update statuses, and surface blockers before they become problems.
- Own the creative calendar from brief to final asset delivery. Know what is due, who is blocked, and what needs to move.
- Manage intake: receive creative requests, scope them, assign ownership, and set realistic timelines based on current workload.
- Coordinate handoffs between designers, video editors, UGC creators, and media buyers so assets move cleanly from concept to launch.
- Build and maintain reusable templates, SOPs, and checklists for recurring workflows: weekly launches, seasonal campaigns, product drops.
- Track asset inventory: know what is live, what is fatigued, and what needs to be refreshed.
Campaign & Content Development
- Manage the briefing, development, and execution of creative assets that attract, engage, and convert on Meta.
- Ensure creative work is rooted in strategic insight and tailored to the nuances of each placement, market, and audience segment.
- Work closely with the creative team to ensure execution aligns with the strategic vision in each brief.
- Provide guidance on content cadence and creative storytelling approaches for high-volume, high-quality output.
Performance & Optimization
- Analyze campaign performance data and consumer engagement metrics from Meta Ads Manager to refine creative strategy: hook rate, CTR, thumb-stop, ROAS.
- Identify creative fatigue early and flag to media buyers with clear recommendations on what to test next.
- Maintain a running creative learning log that the team can reference to avoid repeating losing patterns and build on winning ones.
- Connect performance insights back to new briefs so each testing cycle builds on the last.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging platforms, and shifting consumer behavior to keep our clients' brands relevant and test coverage broad.
Internal Team Coordination
- Facilitate at least weekly team check-ins: create and share the agenda in advance, take notes, document decisions, and circulate action items with clear owners.
- Communicate project needs, upcoming work, and shifting priorities across the creative team so everyone has visibility without having to chase.
- Manage external vendors and freelancers (UGC creators, video editors, photographers): clear briefs, on-time delivery, structured feedback loops.
- Act as the liaison between the creative team and media buyers, strategy, and clients. Translate each group's priorities into executable creative work.
YOUR PROFILE
Must-Haves
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a creative, marketing, or project coordination role. Agency, in-house DTC, or growth-focused startup preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously without dropping balls. You can describe the system you built or maintained, not just the work you did.
- Familiarity with Meta Ads Manager and paid social creative fundamentals. You do not need to be a media buyer, but you need to know what makes an ad perform.
- Proficiency with a project management platform (we run on Notion) and a willingness to own it. Not just update your own tasks, but drive team-wide adoption and accountability.
- Strong written communication: briefs, status updates, meeting notes. Clear and direct, not verbose.
- Comfortable using AI tools as part of your day-to-day workflow for research, ideation, and content development.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and shipping beats perfecting.
- Fluent English. Our clients and team are international.
Strong Signals
- Experience writing creative briefs that resulted in produced, launched assets. Share examples.
- Exposure to UGC production workflows or influencer and creator coordination.
- Basic fluency in design tools, enough to annotate feedback or rough out a concept.
- Experience at a DTC brand or performance marketing agency with a high volume of creative testing.
- Familiarity with AI video and image tools (Higgsfield or similar).
Not Required
You do not need to be a designer, copywriter, or media buyer. You need to understand all three well enough to brief them, coordinate them, and push back constructively.
HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED
- Creative assets are delivered on time and on-brief. The team spends time executing, not chasing status.
- Testing velocity (new creative concepts shipped per week) trends up over time.
- Briefs require minimal back-and-forth before production begins.
- Performance learnings are documented and visibly inform new briefs each cycle.
- Stakeholders report fewer surprises and clear visibility into the creative pipeline.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Hourly rate based on experience
- Location: Fully remote
HOW TO APPLY
Send your resume and a brief note (no cover letter template needed) answering: "Describe a creative project you managed end-to-end. What was your system, what broke, and what would you do differently?" Bonus: include a sample brief or any work example that shows how you think.
