O_ur client in the health and personal care space is hiring a Key Account Manager – Target!_About the Role
The Key Account Manager (Target) owns the strategic relationship, revenue growth, and execution excellence across one of our most important national retail partners: Target. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth through assortment expansion, promotional strategy, category performance, and omnichannel retail execution across Target stores and Target.com.
You will serve as the primary commercial lead for the Target business — building joint business plans, managing trade investment, identifying growth opportunities, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver against ambitious revenue and margin goals. The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing Target accounts within a high-growth CPG environment and understands how to navigate the complexity of modern omnichannel retail. This person should be equally comfortable in buyer conversations, line reviews, forecasting discussions, and internal strategic planning.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccount Strategy & Growth
- Own annual revenue, distribution, and profitability targets for the Target business
- Develop and execute Joint Business Plans aligned to company growth objectives
- Identify opportunities for assortment expansion, incremental shelf placement, and category growth
- Lead line reviews, product pitches, assortment reviews, and innovation launches
- Build strong relationships with Target buyers, merchants, and cross-functional retail partners
- Drive growth across both brick-and-mortar and Target.com channels
- Partner with internal leadership to shape long-term Target channel strategy
Trade & Financial Management
- Own trade budget planning, optimization, and ROI management for the Target account
- Manage promotional calendars, pricing strategy, and retail investment planning
- Partner closely with Finance to ensure profitable growth and healthy contribution margins
- Drive forecast accuracy and support inventory planning initiatives
- Manage deductions, accruals, and account-level financial performance
- Monitor account P&L and proactively identify risks and opportunities
Omnichannel & Retail Execution
- Partner with Marketing on retail activation, digital merchandising, seasonal campaigns, and new launches
- Collaborate with eCommerce and Retail Media teams to support Target.com performance and visibility
- Work closely with Supply Chain to maintain strong in-stock rates and operational execution
- Align with Retail Sales Strategy on pricing architecture, promotional frameworks, and competitive positioning
- Deliver business reviews and performance reporting to internal leadership
- Monitor category trends, shopper behavior, and competitive activity to uncover growth opportunities
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in CPG sales or key account management
- Direct experience managing Target accounts required
- Proven success driving growth within national retail accounts
- Strong financial acumen including trade spend management, forecasting, and margin optimization
- Experience leading line reviews, assortment presentations, and retailer negotiations
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Preferred Experience
- CPG, wellness, supplement, or functional food category experience
- Experience within a high-growth omnichannel brand environment
- Familiarity with Target’s merchandising and promotional processes
- Experience with syndicated data platforms such as Circana (IRI), Nielsen, or SPINS
- Exposure to category management or retail analytics tools
- Experience working cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, and eCommerce teams
