Volunteer Social Media Growth & Engagement Manager

We’re looking for a Social Media Growth & Engagement Manager (Volunteer). This role is about keeping the Instagram account (@index_mh) visible, building the right kind of audience, and making sure Index:MH shows up in the conversations that matter around beauty, body image and mental health.

If you spend a lot of time on IG, care about what beauty marketing does to mental health, and know how to talk to people in a way that cuts through, this is your corner!

What you’ll do

• Engage with aligned accounts on Instagram by commenting, replying and interacting in clear Index:MH tone.
• Keep the account active between posts by joining relevant conversations where beauty, body image and mental health are being discussed.
• Spot opportunities by finding posts, topics and creators where an Index:MH perspective should be visible and flagging them for response or content ideas.
• Protect the Index:MH voice by making sure everything you write is clear and focused on harm and accountability, not wellness or self-love messaging.
• Track basic numbers each week so we can see what is working, for example follower growth, saves, meaningful comments and useful interactions.

Must-haves for this role:

• Excellent written communication in clear, simple English.
• Confident using Instagram, including comments, DMs, saves, shares, tags.
• Genuine interest in how beauty marketing affects body image and mental health.
• Proactive and reliable, does not need chasing or hand-holding.
• Comfortable spending most of their time on engagement, not design or scheduling.
