We’re looking for volunteer Contributing Writers to join our remote editorial team.

As a Contributing Writer, you’ll pitch, research, and write original articles that align with Antagonizine’s mission and tone. You’ll work closely with our editor and fellow writers to shape content, exchange feedback, and contribute to the broader direction of the publication.

This is a remote, unpaid, volunteer role, ideal for writers looking to build their portfolio, experiment creatively, or be part of a collaborative cultural project.

Time commitment: Approximately 2 articles per month.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch and write 2 original articles per month (typically 800–1,200 words)
  • Conduct thoughtful research and fact-checking when needed
  • Edit and revise work based on editorial feedback
  • Participate in occasional virtual meetings or Slack/Discord discussions
  • Collaborate with the editorial team on themes, special issues, and content direction
  • Meet agreed-upon deadlines consistently

Who We’re Looking For

You might be a great fit if you have:

  • Strong writing and creative writing skills
  • A thoughtful, curious approach to research and storytelling
  • An interest in politics, fashion, music, culture, or social issues
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own deadlines
  • Solid communication and collaboration skills
  • Basic editing and proofreading ability

Nice to have (but not required):

  • Experience writing for a publication, blog, zine, or newsletter
  • A personal Substack, Medium, blog, or writing portfolio
  • Familiarity with digital publishing or content strategy
