Environmental issues are frequently discussed in technical or institutional spaces that feel distant and exclusive, leaving many people—especially those in underserved communities—feeling disconnected from the conversation. While many young people are deeply motivated to drive change, they face systemic barriers like a lack of professional mentorship, limited access to training, and the emotional toll of "eco-anxiety" and isolation. Without inclusive entry points and supportive environments, a vast amount of community potential for climate action remains untapped.

Manakal bridges the gap between motivation and opportunity by creating people-centered pathways for sustainability learning and leadership. Our model moves beyond simple information-sharing to focus on building the mindset, confidence, and emotional resilience needed for long-term community engagement. We prioritize accessibility by breaking down complex climate topics into practical habits and using native languages rather than relying solely on English, ensuring our resources are culturally relevant and inclusive. By providing a "safe harbor" for growth that combines technical skill-building with human-centered mentorship, Manakal empowers individuals to move from overwhelmed observers to active agents of change, ensuring that local expertise and diverse voices are at the heart of the global transition to sustainability.

Role (Volunteer, unpaid): Social Media Content CreatorRole Description: In this role, you will support the creation of visual and multimedia content that helps communicate Manakal’s mission, connect with our growing community, and expand our visibility across digital platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who understands how digital content works today and wants to use creativity as a tool for social impact.

What you will contribute to:

• Creating engaging short-form content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and other digital channels
• Supporting the development of visual storytelling aligned with Manakal’s mission and tone
• Identifying relevant content trends, formats, and creative opportunities that can be adapted to an impact-driven context
• Editing short-form videos and multimedia pieces in a dynamic and audience-friendly way
• Designing visual content optimized for engagement, clarity, and platform relevance
• Collaborating with the communications team to translate ideas, campaigns, and initiatives into compelling digital content
• Helping strengthen Manakal’s visibility, storytelling, and community-building efforts through creative communication

Requirements:

• Strong interest in digital communication, storytelling, and social impact
• Experience creating or editing short-form vertical video content (Reels, TikTok, Shorts, etc.)
• Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, or similar
• Understanding of current social media content trends and what captures attention in today’s digital environment
• Ability to translate ideas into visually engaging and accessible content
• Creativity, initiative, and ability to work collaboratively in a remote international team
• Portfolio, sample work, or social media examples are highly encouraged and recommended
