Job Description

UNICEF has worked in Indonesia since 1948, supporting the Government to uphold the rights of children and adolescents. The 2026–2030 Country Programme of Cooperation focuses on accelerating equitable outcomes for children - particularly the most vulnerable - across health, nutrition, education, child protection, climate action (WASH), and social policy.

Communication and advocacy are core cross-cutting strategies that amplify UNICEF’s impact, mobilize partnerships, and inspire action for children at scale.

  • Write, edit, and quality-assure a wide range of English-language communication products, including:
  • Human-interest stories
  • Senior management speeches and briefs
  • Media materials, op-eds, and key messages
  • Video scripts, social media copy, and digital content
  • Collaborate with programme, fundraising, partnerships, and digital teams to ensure content accuracy, consistency, and strategic alignment
  • Provide storytelling advice and editorial support to strengthen narrative impact
  • Ensure compliance with UNICEF writing standards and brand guidelines
  • Occasionally support basic graphic design and video post-production (desirable skill)

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in journalism, communications, international relations, political science, international development, or a related field

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience in communications within the international development or humanitarian sector
  • Prior experience with UNICEF or the UN system is an asset

Languages

  • English: Fluent (required)

Volunteer Living Allowance: Depending on country of legal residence
