Overview:

UNIGRID, Inc. is seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to identify and develop new market opportunities, cultivate strategic partnerships, engage prospective customers, and support the growth of UNIGRID's commercial pipeline from initial engagement through contract execution.

Working closely with executive leadership, engineering, marketing, and operations teams, the Director of Business Development will play a key role in shaping go-to-market strategy, building industry relationships, and driving revenue growth as UNIGRID scales its next-generation energy storage solutions to serve short duration high power solutions, within the datacenter, commercial and industrial markets.

The ideal candidate brings an active, established network of data center builders, developers, and energy aggregators, alongside deep familiarity with sales of high-voltage DC power infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities within the data center, commercial and industrial (C&I), and adjacent infrastructure market, with a primary focus on direct sales to data center builders, EPCs, and energy aggregators. 
  • Build and execute business development strategies that support market expansion, customer acquisition, and long-term revenue growth for our new high power sodium ion battery product line.
  • Leverage an established network of industry contacts among data center infrastructure developers, engineering firms, and aggregators to create strategic introductions and generate qualified opportunities. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with executives, operators, developers, procurement teams, engineering stakeholders, and strategic partners.
  • Engage prospective customers through discovery meetings, technical discussions, presentations, and solution development activities, effectively articulating the value proposition of high-power, passive, and high-voltage DC battery architectures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align customer requirements, product capabilities, and commercialization objectives.
  • Support partnership development efforts with ecosystem participants, channel partners, technology providers, power conversion system (PCS)/inverter OEMs and industry organizations.
  • Lead opportunity management activities from prospect identification through negotiation, contract execution, and successful customer handoff.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive developments, customer needs, and emerging opportunities in the high power density markets to inform business strategy.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline forecasts and provide timely updates on business development activities, partnerships, and commercial opportunities.
  • 50% travel required, depending on business needs. 

Required Qualifications:

  • An active, robust personal network of decision-makers and influencers within the data center builder/developer ecosystem, EPCs, and utility/C&I energy aggregators.
  • Deep technical literacy and commercial experience working with high-voltage DC topologies, specifically medium to high voltage power systems architecture.
  • Demonstrated success in direct B2B sales of high-power hardware, battery energy storage systems (BESS), critical power infrastructure, or telecom solutions directly into data center operators and builders.
  • Ability to open doors, influence decision-makers, and close deals independently.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work within the U.S. and pass a pre-agreed upon third party conducted background check.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently and collaboratively in a small start-up team environment.
  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally. 50% travel required, depending on business needs.

Compensation:
