The Senior Manager of Marketing plays a key role in amplifying the organization’s mission by leading the planning, execution, and optimization of our marketing initiatives. This individual will develop and execute campaigns that drive awareness and engagement amongst constituents, manage the organization’s digital channels, and ensure that marketing efforts are aligned and optimized to drive business goals.

The role requires strong project management skills, excellent writing and editing abilities, and a deep understanding of best practices across platforms. The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams, external vendors, and corporate partners to amplify awareness of the organization’s mission and programs.

Location: Remote (Home base must be between Washington, D.C. and Maine)

About the Role:What You’ll Do:

Marketing Planning & Campaign Execution

  • Manage the organization’s marketing calendar, ensuring alignment across campaigns, events, programs, and organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop integrated marketing campaigns that raise awareness, promote programs and events, and support fundraising and partnership initiatives. Coordinate campaign assets, timelines, and deliverables across teams and external partners.
  • Manage paid media opportunities, working with partners to secure placements and develop ad messaging and creative.
  • Work with corporate donors on partnership initiatives that drive awareness and engagement with industry employees.

Email Marketing

  • Lead the organization’s email marketing program from strategy through execution; write and edit email copy that reflects the organization’s voice and drives engagement.
  • Build emails within the email marketing platform and manage production schedules. Identify opportunities to improve workflows, integrations, and data tracking.
  • Leverage data integrations to segment audiences, optimize campaigns, and report on performance metrics.
  • Work with internal teams and outside vendors on system and data management to maintain ongoing needs for the email platform, and ensure that the program is following best practices and adhering to CAN-SPAM/privacy laws.

Website Management

  • Oversee daily website needs, including CMS updates, UX/UI optimization and content strategy. Ensure website content is accurate, accessible, and aligned with marketing priorities.
  • Work with external developers and vendors on website improvements and development projects.

Content & Creative Development

  • Collaborate with the editorial lead on content development, messaging, and storytelling initiatives.
  • Write, edit, and proofread marketing copy across digital and print channels. Ensure messaging is aligned across campaigns and platforms.
  • Work with external graphic designers to produce marketing assets for events, program promotion, and marketing campaigns.
  • Manage timelines and feedback to ensure creative deliverables are on brand and on schedule.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 6–8+ years of marketing experience, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Strong email marketing experience, including writing, building, and reporting on campaigns.
  • Experience managing website content and working with external development vendors. Knowledge of HTML. Familiarity with CraftCMS a plus.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills; ability to work cross functionally to gain alignment and push projects forward.
  • Excellent visual design sense; experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities; excellent attention to detail.
