Social Media & Visual Content Lead (Part-Time, Remote)
Job Description
Posted on: January 18, 2026
We're looking for someone to help Threnne feel like a permanent fixture in the culture before we ever launch a public product.
This is not a volume role. We're not interested in growth hacking or chasing trends for impressions. We're looking for taste, cultural fluency, and the ability to signal, through voice and visuals, that Threnne treats the genre with the rigor it deserves.
The Role
You'll work directly with the founder to translate the studio's mission into a living social media presence. You'll be posting content and engaging in online spaces daily, while also shaping high-level brand voice based on what you're learning in real time.
What You'll Do
- Visual Direction: Translate editorial concepts into sharp, studio-quality social assets (quote cards, trope breakdowns, commentary) using our brand system.
- Editorial Voice: Write social posts that feel like a conversation between smart friends. Generous to the genre, critical about craft, fluent in the culture.
- Community Signal: Participate in romance spaces (BookTok, X, Threads, Bluesky) not as a brand, but as a peer.
- Brand Strategy: Provide feedback on our visual identity and voice based on real-time community response.
- Curate: Identify the conversations worth joining—and the ones worth skipping.
The Candidate
We care about judgment more than resumes. You understand that "Romance" is a broad umbrella covering disparate, passionate subcultures.
- You know the landscape: You can navigate spicy BookTok, cozy fantasy readers, and AO3 communities without mixing up the room. You understand why someone's "unhinged" is another person's "unreadable."
- You have an eye: You can take a complex idea and make it look clean and editorial in Canva or Figma.
- You respect the source: You likely have a background in fandom, publishing, or media. You understand that community is earned, not extracted.
The Studio
Threnne exists to develop and release stories that feel purposeful—across publishing, audio, and eventually screen.
- Long-term: A studio imprint for original romance fiction.
- Near-term: Practical tools for romance creators.
- The ethos: Romance without the disclaimer. We reject the "guilty pleasure" framing and honor the genre with the rigor, budget, and respect it deserves.
Logistics
- Hours: ~5–10/week during the 30-day trial
- Compensation: $45/hour
- Structure: 30-day paid trial, with potential to move to a monthly retainer
- Location: Remote, async-friendly
By the end of the trial, we'll have a working content rhythm and a clearer sense of Threnne's public voice.
To Apply
Skip the formal cover letter. Just send:
- The Work: Links to social accounts, designs, or writing that demonstrate your taste.
- The Signal: One romance or fandom conversation you've been tracking lately. Why does it matter? What's the nuance people are missing?
We're building slowly and deliberately. If that pace appeals to you, we'd love to hear from you.
