POSITION OVERVIEW

The Email Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution, optimization, and performance of The Reading League's email marketing program. This role partners closely with the Marketing Director to deliver strategic, audience-focused communications that support organizational goals, strengthen constituent engagement, and advance The Reading League's mission.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESEmail Strategy and Campaign Planning

  • Develop and manage the organizational email marketing calendar
  • Plan email campaigns and newsletters that support organizational priorities, programs, events, and initiatives
  • Coordinate campaign timelines, content needs, approvals, and deployment schedules with internal stakeholders
  • Partner with the Marketing Director to implement lifecycle marketing strategies and support cross-channel campaigns

Campaign Development and Execution

  • Own the development, quality assurance, scheduling, and deployment of organizational email campaigns and newsletters through the CRM
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather content and ensure campaigns are completed accurately and on time
  • Contribute to email messaging, subject lines, calls to action, testing, and campaign optimization
  • Ensure email communications are consistent with The Reading League’s brand and provide a high-quality constituent experience

Audience Segmentation and Marketing Automation

  • Build and maintain audience segments that support effective targeting and personalization
  • Develop and manage email workflows, automated campaigns, and constituent engagement journeys
  • Maintain accurate campaign audiences and ensure communications are delivered to the appropriate constituent groups
  • Identify opportunities to improve segmentation, personalization, and automation strategies

Performance Analysis and Optimization

  • Monitor campaign performance, email deliverability, engagement, and key marketing metrics
  • Analyze campaign results and identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Recommend data-informed changes to improve audience engagement and campaign effectiveness
  • Continuously evaluate and evolve The Reading League’s email marketing program

QUALIFICATIONSRequired

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 4–6 years of experience in email marketing, digital marketing, marketing automation, or CRM management
  • Experience building, executing, and optimizing email marketing campaigns within a CRM platform (HubSpot experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of audience segmentation, marketing automation, email deliverability, and email marketing best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze campaign performance and translate data into actionable recommendations
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a proven ability to execute thorough quality assurance before campaign deployment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Experience managing editorial or marketing calendars and coordinating content across cross-functional teams
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a collaborative, mission-driven environment
  • Ability to envision and convey The Reading League’s mission and embrace our values

Preferred

  • Experience working for a nonprofit, education organization, or mission-driven organization
  • Experience with A/B testing, personalization, and lifecycle marketing
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or similar reporting platforms.
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for email editing 
  • Experience with event marketing, fundraising, or e-commerce email campaigns 
  • Hubspot experience

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary range $70,000 to $80,000

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; accommodations provided
