About The Role As an early leader on the Data Science team at Render, you’ll have a critical impact on our growth by shaping product strategy and guiding investment decisions through clear, actionable insights. While collaborating with teams across the organization, you will be the first to explore many areas in our data and unlock opportunities to drive innovation. We’re looking for a hands-on Data Science Manager—someone who blends strong individual contribution with team leadership and strategic insight. You will shape the future of our analytics and data products, directly influence high impact product and business decisions, lead by example, and guide the work of other data scientists while personally contributing to exploratory analysis, experiment design, causal inference, and data infrastructure improvements. You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Product, Growth, Marketing, and Executive teams to uncover insights, steer strategy, and foster a data informed culture. You Will

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing data science team across analytics, experimentation, and statistical modeling.
• Personally drive and guide impactful IC work, from ad hoc analysis to ML-based modeling projects.
• Create and evangelize best practices for data reliability, reproducibility, and documentation.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to define a long term data strategy
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Marketing
• Explore and evaluate opportunities for product improvement.
• Develop and track success metrics for product initiatives.
• Provide actionable insights about our users such as how they work, how they discover features, and which obstacles they might run into on the platform.
• Contribute toward initiatives to enhance the reliability and accuracy of our data infrastructure and processes.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

• A demonstrated history of impactful work as a Data Scientist, including managing and mentoring.
• Proven success solving complex, ambiguous problems using statistical analysis, experimentation, and modeling.
• Expertise in SQL and Python (bonus: experience with BigQuery, dbt, Mixpanel, or Metabase).
• Strong background in experimental design and causal inference techniques.
• Track record of influencing product and business outcomes through actionable insights.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to frame technical insights for diverse stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and excitement about building within a high-growth, product-led startup.
• Bonus: experience in B2B SaaS, cloud infrastructure, developer tools, or growth analytics.

• Our data stack:

• Multiple sources of data (e.g. Segment, HubSpot, back-end data in Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL)
• ETL to BigQuery with Stitch
• Dbt layer for data transformation
• Analysis and reporting with Metabase and MixPanel

Some Projects You Might Work On

• Define metrics for measuring our growing marketing and sales pipelines and provide data to focus efforts on acquiring and converting high value leads.
• Conduct quantitative user research to support improvements to pricing.
• Develop algorithms for detecting abuse on our platform.
• Build trustworthy, standardized datasets around product usage to measure the impact of various feature improvements.

Benefits

• Our openings span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between $190,000 and $245,000 USD. The provided salary depends on many factors, such as work experience and transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.
