Director, Programmatic MediaRole Overview
The Director of Programmatic Media & ABM is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and operational framework for multichannel programmatic advertising across the organization. This role owns performance outcomes, team structure, and strategic evolution of programmatic and Account-Based Marketing (ABM) capabilities. The Director serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership ensuring media strategies directly support business growth, pipeline impact, and long-term account success.
This role requires deep programmatic expertise, proven people leadership skills, and the ability to translate complex media performance into executive-level insights and recommendations.
Job ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Vision
- Define and own the programmatic media and ABM strategy across accounts, ensuring alignment with client business objectives and organizational growth goals.
- Establish long-term roadmaps for channel expansion, audience strategy, measurement frameworks, and platform adoption.
- Identify opportunities to evolve offerings through innovation in data, technology, automation, and emerging media channels.
Organizational & People Leadership
- Lead a team of campaign managers, including hiring, performance management, and succession planning.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and strategic thinking.
- Collaborate and strategize with other LOB Directors to ensure cross-channel optimization for client.
Performance Ownership & Accountability
- Own overall programmatic performance across portfolios of accounts, including pacing, ROI, and KPI attainment.
- Establish benchmarks, forecasting models, and performance measurement standards.
- Oversee resolution of escalated performance, delivery, or technical issues.
Client & Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as an executive-level partner to customer relationship leaders influencing strategy and driving long-term account growth.
- Translate complex performance data into clear, business-focused narratives for executive stakeholders.
Operational Excellence & Governance
- Design and optimize processes for campaign planning, QA, reporting, and compliance at scale.
- Partner with analytics and technology teams to improve data accuracy, workflow efficiency, and scalability.
Reporting, Measurement & Insights
- Own the reporting and insights framework, ensuring consistency, clarity, and actionability across teams and clients.
- Ensure insights inform strategy, optimization, and future investment decisions.
Platform Expertise & Industry Leadership
- Maintain executive-level understanding of DSPs (e.g., The Trade Desk, DV360, MediaMath) and the broader ad tech ecosystem.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, privacy regulations, and platform changes, proactively adjusting strategy and recommendations.
- Serve as an internal thought leader for programmatic and ABM expertise.
Job Skills
- Advanced Programmatic & ABM Strategy: Deep understanding of programmatic buying, ABM frameworks, audience activation, and measurement.
- Business & Financial Acumen: Strong grasp of forecasting, budgeting, ROI analysis, and performance accountability.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to synthesize complex datasets into strategic insights and executive-level recommendations.
- Client & Executive Communication: Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills for senior leadership and customer experience colleagues.
- Change Management: Comfortable leading teams through platform, process, or strategy evolution.
- Adaptability & Innovation: Proactive approach to learning, experimentation, and adoption of emerging technologies and best practices.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in programmatic media, digital media strategy, or ad tech.
- Demonstrated success managing and scaling high-performing teams.
- Deep hands-on knowledge of multiple DSPs and programmatic ecosystems.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and performance visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI).
- Experience supporting enterprise or B2B clients and ABM initiatives preferred.
