Onyx Newsroom is looking for a creative, detail-driven short-form video editor and content creator to help us turn high-impact stories into engaging, shareable videos. Our audience includes C-suite leaders, industry experts, and curious minds worldwide. We cover many industries, but our core beats are life sciences, climate sciences, and travel.

We often work with Fortune and Newsweek, and we want your help to bring our storytelling to life in short, snappy, and visually striking clips for TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.

The Role

You’ll take scripts and interviews from our editorial team and transform them into captivating short-form videos. The ideal candidate is comfortable editing punchy, fast-paced content, as well as animating complex scientific concepts into clear, accessible visuals.

Responsibilities

• Edit and produce short-form videos (15–90 seconds) for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn
• Create simple, compelling animations to explain scientific, economic, or environmental concepts
• Work with scripts, voiceovers, and raw footage to produce polished final cuts
• Collaborate with editors to ensure style, tone, and branding are consistent
• Deliver on agreed deadlines

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience creating short-form video content for social media
• Animation skills (e.g. 2D motion graphics, infographics, explainer animations)
• Strong understanding of pacing, platform trends, and audience engagement tactics
• Experience working with science, sustainability, or educational content is a plus
• Proficiency with video editing software
• English proficiency for understanding and implementing scripts accurately
• Ability to work independently and take creative initiative
