Job Title: Marketing Manager (The 1908 Group)

Salary: c. £40k (Dependant on Skills and Experience)

Location: Home based with national travel as required

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) is the biggest farming organisation in the UK. The 1908 Group brings together three market‑leading planning and design consultancies – Acorus Planning & Design, PWA Planning and Woolf Bond Planning - all owned by the NFU, and uniting over 60 specialists delivering commercial, agricultural and residential planning expertise across England and Wales.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to join us on a permanent basis. This newly created role will lead the development and delivery of a cohesive marketing strategy for both farming and non‑farming clients, strengthening the individual firms’ brands as well as The 1908 Group’s unified identity. The ultimate aim is to drive growth and generate new business across the Group.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by shaping and delivering a clear set of strategic and operational priorities and high‑value projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a cohesive marketing strategy that strengthens the individual brands of Acorus Planning & Design, PWA Planning and Woolf Bond Planning, while enhancing The 1908 Group’s unified identity and presence across diverse sectors.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communications and materials, aligning with the Group’s modern visual identity and shared values of resilience, collaboration and progress. This will include championing internal communication of the brand to help our teams understand and adopt shared messaging, tone and visual identity.
  • Lead digital marketing activity, including website content, SEO, social media, email marketing and analytics, to increase visibility and engagement across diverse client groups.
  • Produce high‑quality marketing content, such as case studies, project showcases, brochures, thought‑leadership pieces and presentations that highlight the Group’s expertise and capabilities.
  • Support business development, working closely with partners and senior leaders to identify opportunities, promote services and create targeted campaigns for farming and non‑farming audiences.
  • Plan and manage marketing projects and campaigns, ensuring timely delivery, quality outputs and clear impact measures. Plus, monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategy, positioning and messaging.
  • Track and report performance against key marketing metrics, providing insights and recommendations to the leadership team.

About You

  • Proven experience in marketing, ideally within professional services, consultancy, or built‑environment sectors.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate strategy into practical, high‑quality delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling content for varied audiences.
  • Strong digital marketing capability, including website management, social media, analytics and email marketing.
  • Confident working with brand guidelines and ensuring consistency across materials and channels. Plus, highly organised, detail‑focused and able to work proactively with minimal supervision.
  • Data‑driven approach, with the ability to monitor performance and provide insights that shape decision‑making.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and influence at all levels.
  • Appreciation of the challenges faced by SMEs and experience working within similar environments.
  • Comfortable working remotely with occasional travel to multiple office locations.

Reporting Line

This role reports directly to the Chair.
