Shopping Guide Content Manager volunteer (unpaid)
Job Description
Posted on: March 28, 2026
MallGuide.online is an early-stage startup building a digital guide platform for shopping malls. Our focus is on helping malls present clear, accurate, and well-structured information online so visitors can easily explore shops, dining, services, entertainment, and facilities. The platform is less about editorial content and much more about making sure each mall guide works properly, looks complete, and presents information in a useful way.As an early-stage venture, we are looking for people who enjoy building from the ground up, taking initiative, and helping shape the way the platform develops. This is a chance to have real impact early. If the venture succeeds, the people who helped build it should share in the benefits of that success.Role DescriptionThis is a volunteer role for a Content Manager focused on maintaining the quality, accuracy, and completeness of mall guides on MallGuide.online. As a remote volunteer, you will help ensure that mall listings are correctly structured and presented, including shop information, categories, images, galleries, directories, and other guide content.
Day-to-day tasks include checking that shops are shown correctly, verifying listings and categories, making sure galleries and visual content work properly, updating mall and tenant information, spotting gaps or inconsistencies, and coordinating with other volunteers or stakeholders to keep guides accurate and usable.
This is not primarily an editorial or fashion-focused content role. It is more about organisation, quality control, consistency, and making sure the platform delivers reliable and well-presented mall guides. Because this is an early-stage startup, we are looking for someone with a proactive mindset who is comfortable taking ownership, identifying issues, and helping improve how content is managed as we grow.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Experience in content management, structured data entry, catalog management, or quality control
- Ability to review content for accuracy, consistency, and completeness
- Comfortable working with listings, directories, categories, images, and gallery-based content
- Proactive, self-starting attitude and willingness to improve processes
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting
- Familiarity with CMS platforms, spreadsheets, admin systems, or database-like tools is desirable
- Experience with retail, shopping centres, venue directories, marketplaces, or location-based platforms is a plus
- Basic understanding of how user-facing content should be presented clearly and reliably online
We also expect volunteers to be comfortable using modern AI tools as part of their day-to-day work. This includes tools such as Claude, Codex, Gemini, or similar assistants that can help with research, content checks, drafting, organisation, and quality control. The right person does not need to know every tool in depth from day one, but should be open to learning quickly, experimenting, and using AI proactively to work more effectively in an early-stage startup environment. Claude is positioned as an AI assistant for complex work, Codex as OpenAI’s agentic coding/workflow tool, and Gemini as Google’s AI assistant, so familiarity with this style of tool will be valuable in the role.
