About the jobJ-Novel Club (a division of M12 Media LLC) is seeking a strategic and passionate leader to elevate our North American digital marketing efforts. As the Senior Marketing Manager, you will be at the helm of all of our paid advertising and social strategy: you will shape the department, building on current brand voice and strategy, and forge our plan forward. You'll drive growth for a wide range of digital content, including manga, light novels, and audiobooks. This is a position for an experienced professional who understands SEO growth, crafting brand voice, and engaging with fandom. A professional knowledge of publishing, the anime and manga industry, audiobooks, or gaming is a plus!
Brief description of job responsibilities:
● Lead Paid Marketing Efforts: You will act as the starting point for marketing initiatives and monthly sales, thematically crafted and thoughtfully selected to boost backlist titles.
● Execute New Strategy for Launches & Imprints: Your vision will be the starting point for our online announcements on social media for new series launches, convention appearances, new media and partnerships, and more!
● PR Communication: You will craft the one sheet that goes to press as you determine it is needed to help with marketing strategy.
● Develop and Execute Strategies: Own the development and implementation of quarterly marketing plan. This includes creating campaign calendars and managing promotions across all digital and traditional channels for key titles and seasonal events.
● Drive Digital Advertising and Performance: Oversee the strategy and execution of digital advertising campaigns, including paid social, search, and display ads. You will be responsible for tracking campaign performance and using data to optimize sales and prevent churn.
● Build and Nurture Our Community: Lead our community presence, including social media strategy, influencer outreach, and fan engagement. You might even join us at convention appearances!
● Pitch Budgets and Timelines: Oversee and define marketing budgets as-needed, timelines, and cross-team coordination to ensure all initiatives are delivered on time and within scope. You will regularly analyze campaign performance to provide strategic insights and recommendations to other senior leadership.
● Newsletter: Manage our newsletter as-needed to highlight your marketing initiatives.
Who we looking for:
● 3+ years of experience in a non entry-level marketing role; leadership preferred
● A strategic thinker with a proven track record of developing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive measurable results.
● An expert in digital advertising platforms and marketing analytics, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies—especially Google Ads and Analytics.
● An exceptional communicator who can collaborate with freelance designers and in-house project management for timelines, graphics, and more.
● Someone with a proven track record of high-engagement, improved SEO, and ads that translate to high customer turnover–who can define and lead on engaging strategy to do the same for the digital eBook market.
● Familiar with the North American publishing industry, fan conventions, and digital content platforms.
● Experience managing or building online communities through social media.
Bonus Points for:
● Someone who loves online pop culture and manga, light novels, and comics, with a deep understanding of global fandom trends and digital reading behaviors.
● Japanese language skills, cultural competencies, or experience working with Japanese partners.
