Job Description

About Double Standard
Double Standard is a NYC-based footwear brand that's giving the modern woman the functional yet fashionable, all-day footwear she's been needing. We hit $1M in our first year in 2024, acquiring customers like Paris Hilton, Julia Fox, and Megan Thee Stallion thanks to our agile, limited drop model that involves feedback from customers, new technologies, and predictive data to ensure we only drop what our customers truly want.
You'll be the right-hand (wo)man to the cofounder, a creative director and business leader who is equally passionate about innovating shoe designs, creative content, and tech-powered internal systems. Your key objective is to help unlock the brand's full creative potential by managing back-end operations, logistics, and growth marketing implementation. Our stack spans Shopify, Meta ads, Google Ads, Klaviyo, 3PL fulfillment, Clickup and more - and we're looking for a tech-savvy operator who can jump in and make our tools work better, faster, smarter.
What You'll Own
This is a generalist role for someone who is anything but generic.
- Analytics: Build tools for clearer marketing attribution, faster returns processing, project management - whatever is needed.
- Retention Marketing: Own Klaviyo end-to-end: flows, segmentation, data hygiene, performance
- Paid Ads: Assist the founder in overseeing and implementing paid ads campaigns, restructuring and reallocating budgets
- Website: Track website performance and implement CRO strategies - think A/B testing landing pages, restructuring offers, improving product discovery, and more
- Logistics: Oversee 3PL logistics and manage customer service processes, carry out new programs to improve our shipping/returns, manage any changes to our supply chain
- Customer Experience: Monitor for issues in the customer experience - from product issues, lost packages, quality issues, and create processes to mitigate them
- Work with or direct technical resources on Shopify customizations, app integrations, and automations
- Internal Operations: Build and deploy AI-powered tools to automate ops, reporting, and internal workflows — you've already experimented here and you're excited to go further
- Support our global team to make their jobs efficient and enhance our remote workflows
Who You Are
- You've played a key role running a DTC brand and you know how all the pieces connect. You can look at a dashboard and feel when something is wrong. You know the difference between a creative problem and a targeting problem.
- You've fixed a broken Klaviyo flow and audited a Meta campaign in the same week
- You're fluent in how each paid ads channel differs from another and the delicate nuances that can make or break an ad campaign.
- You're technical enough to get in and implement — not just flag issues and hand them off. You're comfortable in Shopify, you're not intimidated by APIs, and you're genuinely excited about what AI can do for a small, fast-moving team.
- You like being inside a company that's building something real, where your fingerprints are on everything and the work actually matters.
- LEAN, agile approach - You know when to build an MVP vs. a sophisticated, customized tool
- SCRAPPY, BOOTSTRAPPED mentality - we have 1 full time employee (the founder) and several freelancers. You're willing to be truly hands-on in exchange for ownership
- 5+ years managing consumer e-commerce, Shopify operations
- 5+ years overseeing P&Ls or digital marketing budgets. Ideally, you've spent at least 2 years maaging campaigns yourself on Meta/Google
- You've shipped several digital products before, managed developers, know how to hire a skilled one, and understand code.
- Avid experimenter in AI who's eager to build with Claude, Zapier, etc.
- You've built sophisticated project management tools on platforms like Clickup that integrate with Slack, Google Workspace, etc.
What We're Not Looking For
People who come from scale and want to import it. Agencies. Anyone who leads with "at my last company we had a whole team for that." People who can identify problems but can't implement solutions.
Compensation
20-30 hours/week monthly retainer to start + equity with a one-year vesting cliff. We're serious about this being a long-term role and sharing the rewards.
To Apply
No cover letters. No recruiters. Email sarah@doublestandard.nyc with:
- A specific project you're most proud of — what it was, the problem it solved, and what you'd do differently.
- A short list of every meaningful project you've worked on. For each: where it started, where it ended up, your exact role, team size, and the company's funding stage at the time.
- Your future aspirations — where you want to be in 3 years and what kind of work gets you there.
- In your own words: what does top-notch branded e-commerce operations look like?
