Search Engine Optimization Team Lead

We're looking for a confident, experienced SEO Team Leader to take the reins of our growing SEO department. You’ll work closely with client managers, SEO specialists, and leadership to ensure top-tier strategy, execution, and communication across all client projects.

This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in an agency environment, is obsessed with process and quality, and is passionate about growing others.

BrainZ is a leader with GEO/AEO tactics and is looking for a team lead with loads of initiatives and experiments with AI for SEO, who can share knowledge and learn from other team members.

Key Responsibilities

Working IN the Business:

Client Strategy & Delivery

Own and oversee SEO strategy for new and existing clients

Support client managers with strategy and next steps

Support client managers with advanced tactics and value

Review deliverables for accuracy, quality, and presentation

Lead weekly 1:1s with SEO team members to plan and align on tasks and deliverables

Operations & Workflows

Build and monitor project management boards for each client

Oversee an entire operation process while keeping the team’s well being and work-life balance

Create and improve workflows to streamline task management and efficiency

Record and maintain internal tutorials and documentation

Develop and update templated task structures, SOPs, and meeting agendas

Working ON the Business:

Team Growth & Leadership

Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and support to the SEO team

Lead a weekly team meeting focused on collaboration and knowledge-sharing

Actively respond to team questions and support on Slack

Approve PTO and manage scheduling needs

Participate in hiring, vetting, and onboarding new SEO team members

Provide oversight on internal projects and initiatives as needed

Support sales calls as the SEO expert when required

Requirements

Native or mother-tongue level English – written and spoken

3+ years of agency-side SEO experience

Team lead managing experience is a must

6+ years of SEO experience

Technical Analytics skills

Strong AI-first approach

Automations and workflows mindset

Proven experience managing and mentoring SEO teams

Strong knowledge of on-page, off-page, and technical SEO

Confident using ClickUp (or similar project management tools)

Highly organized with an eye for detail and quality

Clear communicator and process-oriented

Proactive, independent, and thrives in a fully remote environment

Comfortable working against invoices as a contractor
