We're seeking a User Research Lead to deliver and assure actionable insights that help define the right service experiences and focus them on user needs. As an expert practitioner, you'll both oversee and lead teams while delivering high-quality research yourself.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and assure actionable insights that help define the right service experiences focused on user needs
- Shape and lead user-centred design teams to ensure delivery of contracted deliverables while adhering to relevant standards (e.g. GDS & NHS Service Standards)
- Act as an advocate for needs-based design, design thinking, and service design
- Coach others in design research with passion and expertise
- Manage, coach, and develop a small number of staff, focusing on managing performance and assisting in their career development
- Lead, plan, develop, and conduct research activities, ensuring the right methods are applied across the Agile development lifecycle
- Oversee and run programmes of research across multiple teams and projects
- Design and deliver workshops across a project lifecycle as an expert facilitator
- Communicate and influence effectively at all levels, driving action and impact based on user insight
- Regularly share experiences, learnings, and impact of work, contributing to the wider user research community
Essential Requirements
- Ability to lead, plan, develop, and conduct research activities, ensuring the right methods are applied across the Agile development lifecycle
- Expert knowledge and application of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Experience overseeing and running programmes of research across multiple teams and projects
- Experience defining and being responsible for research processes and strategy within an organisation
- Expert facilitator skills, designing and delivering workshops across a project lifecycle
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels, driving action and impact based on user insight
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Excellent commercial awareness
- Broad understanding of user-centred design principles and practices with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively with other disciplines
- Demonstrated ability in managing, coaching, and developing senior staff
- Track record of sharing experiences, learnings, and impact of work, contributing to the wider user research community
