The Australian Centre for Trauma in Veterans (ACTIV) and All Abilities Health (AAH) is seeking a highly skilled and creative Social Media Marketing Consultant to join our team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with proven experience in digital marketing and social media strategy, who is passionate about supporting veteran health, advocacy, and community awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a tailored social media strategy to build ACTIV’s brand presence.
- Manage and grow ACTIV’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram).
- Create compelling, sensitive, and impactful content (posts, graphics, short-form video).
- Support awareness campaigns around trauma in veterans, events, and research initiatives.
- Monitor analytics and provide regular performance reports with recommendations.
- Advise on paid advertising opportunities and audience targeting.
About You:
- Strong track record in social media marketing, ideally in health, non-profit, or advocacy sectors.
- Excellent written and visual communication skills.
- Able to adapt tone and messaging to suit sensitive subject matter around trauma and veterans.
- Knowledge of digital trends, analytics tools, and campaign optimisation.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to deliver results under contract timelines.

Contract Term: 6 months, with possibility of renewal
Purpose of the Role
To design, deliver, and oversee ACTV’s social media presence and digital campaigns, ensuring consistent brand messaging, effective engagement, and increased visibility of ACTIV’s mission to support Australian veterans affected by trauma.
Key Deliverables
- Strategy & Planning
- Develop a 6-month social media content plan aligned with ACTIV’s organisational goals.
- Identify key audiences and tailor messaging to diverse stakeholder groups.
- Content Creation & Management
- Create engaging and trauma-sensitive content across multiple platforms.
- Ensure all content reflects ACTIV’s voice, values, and brand guidelines.
- Manage scheduling and publishing using appropriate tools.
- Campaigns & Growth
- Lead digital campaigns to promote ACTIV events, research, and veteran initiatives.
- Explore opportunities for paid advertising and partnerships to increase reach.
- Monitoring & Evaluation
- Track engagement, reach, and growth metrics using analytics tools.
- Provide monthly reports with insights and recommendations.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in social media and digital marketing (3+ years).
- Familiarity with content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
- Strong understanding of analytics platforms (Meta Insights, LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics).
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with sensitive content or in a not-for-profit/health/veteran space is desirable.
