NRL Copywriter (Freelance)

Alright, settle down.

We’re looking for a freelance copywriter who knows NRL inside out and is properly funny.

Not “I once went viral on LinkedIn” funny.

Not “I yell at the ref on the couch” funny.

Actually funny. The kind that makes people snort-laugh and question their loyalty to their own club.

This is a contract gig for one of our NRL projects.

Deadline’s decent. At least it’s better managed than Parramatta’s salary cap in 2015. 

You won’t be staring at a blank page having an existential crisis.

You’ll be refining, sharpening, curating and punching up raw material.

Your job:

- Sharpen the jokes

- Cut the fluff

- Add proper spice

- Make it dangerously readable

That’s it. No smoke. No mirrors. No inspirational quotes on LinkedIn.

If you can’t name an overrated NRL player without opening Google, we're not your type.

About you:

- You know NRL history beyond last season. We’re talking pre-six-again rule. Pre-social media outrage. Proper eras.

- You understand clubs, rivalries, fan bases, and the emotional instability that comes with supporting them.

- You take humour seriously.

- You don’t explain the joke.

- And your grammar doesn’t need babysitting.

Timeline’s reasonable. You’ll have a couple of weeks to deliver the first project, with ongoing work if the chemistry’s right (creative chemistry, not Year 9 science class).
