MLB Appoints Uzma Rawn as New CMO: What This Means for the Future of Baseball Marketing

Uzma Rawn

Uzma Rawn has officially been named the new Chief Marketing Officer for MLB. This announcement was made by Commissioner Rob Manfred during a town hall meeting with MLB staff.

Rawn takes over from Karin Timpone, who recently exited the CMO position after over three years with the organization. Rawn is no stranger to accolades; she has been recognized as a two-time SBJ Forty Under 40 honoree in 2020 and 2024.

In her new role, Rawn will continue her responsibilities as SVP/Global Corporate Partnerships, while also overseeing global marketing and fan development initiatives. She will report directly to Noah Garden, the Deputy Commissioner of Business and Media, in addition to her existing reporting line to Bill Morningstar, EVP Sponsorship Sales/MLB Network President.

Rawn shared her vision for the role, stating, "Those responsibilities (marketing and selling) have been converging anyway. To have a hand in shaping that story is something we do with our partners every day. This is an extension of that and they should fit together. We’ve got a lot of momentum from our successful rule changes and the recent World Series that we want to continue to build with."

Rawn's journey with MLB began in 2015 as the senior director of sponsorship sales, following her previous roles with Premier Properties and NBA TMBO.
