Before her role at JCPenney, Thalberg was the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at United Parks & Resorts and held senior positions at Lowe’s and Taco Bell. Her diverse background equips her with a unique perspective on consumer engagement and brand strategy.

In her first 90 days, Thalberg noted that many consumers lack a modern perception of JCPenney, despite its rich 122-year history. She emphasized the importance of understanding consumer sentiment, especially regarding value and quality in the current economic climate. Her goal is to harness the existing momentum at JCPenney to foster significant growth.
Catalyst Brands: A New Era
Catalyst Brands was established through an all-equity transaction, boasting an impressive $9 billion in revenue and a workforce of 60,000 employees. Marc Rosen will lead Catalyst Brands as CEO, supported by three brand CEOs overseeing various retail divisions. This collaborative approach aims to enhance the individual strengths of each brand while creating a unified shopping experience for over 60 million customers.
Thalberg stated, “Taking this collective expertise and going from mono-brand to multi-brand can really leverage our scale.” The company will also focus on personalized shopping experiences and unified loyalty programs, positioning itself for future success in the retail sector.
