Major Shakeup at Warner Bros: Marketing Chief Josh Goldstine and International Head Andrew Cripps Depart

Warner Bros. Marketing Chief Steps Down
Josh Goldstine, the Warner Bros. marketing chief who spearheaded the global sensation of the "Barbie" promotional campaign, is stepping down from his position. Alongside him, Andrew Cripps, the head of international distribution, is also leaving the studio.
Structural Reorganization
In a significant shakeup, longtime Warner Bros. domestic distribution chief Jeff Goldstein has been promoted to oversee all aspects of the company’s global theatrical exhibition efforts. This move is part of a structural reorganization aimed at realigning the studio’s operations in light of the ongoing challenges facing the movie theater business post-pandemic and after two recent labor strikes.
Future Plans
Warner Bros. co-chiefs Michael DeLuca and Pam Abdy stated that the decision was made to create a unified global operation to better align their teams in the coming years.
Josh Goldstine's Legacy
Goldstine joined Warner Bros. in 2021, transitioning from Universal Pictures. He was instrumental in the marketing campaigns for major hits like “Dune,” “The Batman,” and the iconic “Barbie” campaign, which is expected to be a case study in marketing courses for years to come. However, not all campaigns were successful, with films like “Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom” and “The Flash” failing to meet expectations.
Reflections from Goldstine and Cripps
Goldstine expressed his gratitude for the team he worked with, stating, “I have had the great privilege to work alongside a team whom I deeply admire.” Meanwhile, Cripps reflected on his five-year tenure, noting the challenges faced during the pandemic and the industry’s changes, thanking his team for their support.
Interim Leadership
As the studio moves forward, Dana Nussbaum and Christian Davin will temporarily oversee the global marketing team, while John Stanford will take charge of theatrical creative advertising for upcoming releases. They will report directly to Abdy and DeLuca, who expressed their eagerness to work closely with the interim leaders.
Moving Forward
DeLuca and Abdy concluded their memo by acknowledging the hard work of the entire team and expressing excitement about future opportunities in the dynamic landscape of cinema.
