How McDonald's is Spending $100 Million to Regain Your Trust After E. Coli Scare

McDonald's Takes Action After E. Coli Outbreak
Following a recent E. coli outbreak, McDonald’s is launching a $100 million marketing campaign to restore consumer confidence. The fast-food giant is also providing over $60 million in support to franchisees in the affected states.
Focus on Chicken Nuggets and Safety
The marketing campaign will emphasize value deals, particularly on chicken nuggets. Recent tests have confirmed that there is no E. coli in McDonald's food, and the Quarter Pounder burgers topped with slivered onions are back on the menu nationwide. The CDC and FDA identified the onions as the likely source of the outbreak, which affected over 100 people across 14 states, with one reported death.
Commitment to Rebuilding Trust
In a memo, McDonald's executives highlighted their commitment to rebuilding trust, stating, “The relevance, trust, and love for the Golden Arches has been hard-earned over nearly 70 years.” CEO Chris Kempczinski emphasized that the company is “ready to do more if we need to” to restore confidence among customers.
Promotional Offers
The campaign will include commercials featuring deals such as 10 nuggets for $1 and the continuation of its $5 meal deal. McDonald's aims to leverage the loyalty of its long-time customers during this challenging time.
