Position Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shopper Marketing Manager to support the planning and execution of shopper marketing programs. Reporting directly to the Director of Shopper Marketing, this role focuses on building and executing shopper strategies that grow brand presence and sales at retail.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative marketer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing multiple projects, and is passionate about driving shopper engagement at retail.

Shopper Marketing & Merchandising Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated shopper marketing programs across key retail partners (e.g., Kroger, Target, regional grocery, club, natural channel).
  • Translate client growth goals into actionable in-store and other shopper marketing plans.
  • Identify high-impact merchandising opportunities including secondary placements, displays, signage, and retailer programs.
  • Partner with clients to align trade, shopper, and retail media efforts into cohesive activation plans.
  • Manage retailer-specific initiatives such as Kroger 84.51°, Target Roundel, and other retailer marketing programs outside of managed retail media campaigns.

Campaign Execution & Program Management

  • Oversee end-to-end execution of shopper marketing activations including:
  • Sampling programs (in-store, take-home, closed sample distribution, etc.)
  • In-store signage and display development
  • Merchandising programs and retail activations
  • Retailer marketing submissions and program deadlines
  • Manage timelines, budgets, deliverables, and cross-functional coordination to ensure flawless execution.
  • Own quoting, forecasting, and budget tracking for all shopper marketing initiatives.
  • Anticipate and proactively solve operational challenges across retailers and vendors.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as day-to-day strategic lead for assigned shopper marketing clients.
  • Communicate program strategy, timelines, and results with clarity and confidence.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships by providing proactive recommendations and insights.
  • Ensure all activations ladder back to measurable business outcomes, not vanity metrics.

Project Management & Strategic Planning

  • Develop quarterly and annual shopper marketing roadmaps aligned to retailer priorities and client growth targets.
  • Coordinate across internal teams (retail media, creative, data) to ensure integrated execution.
  • Maintain detailed project plans, status updates, and documentation across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Balance multiple retailer calendars and promotional windows without sacrificing executional excellence.

Creative & Vendor Management

  • Partner closely with internal creative teams to concept and execute compelling in-store materials and displays.
  • Provide clear briefs that align creative output with retailer guidelines and shopper objectives.
  • Manage external vendors including printers, display manufacturers, sampling agencies, and merchandising partners.
  • Negotiate costs, oversee production, and ensure quality control from concept through delivery.

Data, Reporting & Performance Analysis

  • Analyze campaign performance using retailer data (e.g., 84.51°, Roundel reporting, retailer POS data).
  • Evaluate incrementality, lift, velocity impact, and new-to-brand growth where applicable.
  • Identify insights and optimization opportunities to improve future activations.
  • Present post-program recaps with actionable recommendations rooted in profitability and long-term growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in shopper marketing, trade marketing, or customer marketing, preferably with exposure to emerging or non-traditional retail channels.
  • Experience executing shopper marketing programs across multiple touchpoints (in-store, digital, experiential).
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and shopper insights.

  • Proficiency in Google, Microsoft Office Suite and marketing/project management tools.

Preferred Experience:

  • Emerging or Mid-Market CPG Brand Side Experience
  • Shopper Marketing Agency Experience
  • Experience working with grocery retail accounts or channels such as grocery, club, or mass
  • Exposure to digital marketing or retail media networks is a plus

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

This role may involve a mix of remote and in-person work, including occasional travel to stores and events. Key requirements include.

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Use of standard office and digital content equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed
  • Visual and auditory capacity for reviewing content and monitoring engagement.
