The Sunrise Project is seeking a Senior Content Strategist to craft the stories that inspire climate action!

You'll create compelling narratives and donor materials that help secure funding for our global climate work. This is storytelling with purpose – translating complex climate strategies into engaging content that moves philanthropic partners to take action.

💰 Salary: $118,716 - $131,261 AUD

📍 Location: Remote (Australia)

Contract: Full-time permanent

Required Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills, with a portfolio demonstrating clarity, creativity, and the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences—including philanthropic and mission-aligned stakeholders (or similar).
  • Proven experience developing content strategies that align with organizational goals and adapt across channels (e.g., memos, reports, decks, websites).
  • Track record of working in high-trust, relationship-oriented environments, preferably within philanthropic, nonprofit, or advocacy sectors; able to translate complex programmatic work into accessible and compelling narratives.
  • Strong conceptual thinker, able to rapidly generate content ideas, test multiple approaches, and creatively problem-solve under deadline pressure.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Background in journalism, editorial leadership, or long-form storytelling, with a demonstrated ability to extract meaningful narratives from complex or technical information.
  • Experience working in philanthropy, climate, advocacy, or global justice sectors, with an understanding of power dynamics, equity-centered messaging, and values-aligned communications.
  • Multilingual or multicultural experience, especially in global or distributed teams, with sensitivity to linguistic nuance and audience diversity.
