As an E-Commerce Trading Specialist at StudioForty9, you’ll play a pivotal role in turning data-led trading strategies into on-site optimization actions that drive measurable growth for our clients’ online stores. You’ll be the operational engine behind performance: curating products, optimising on-site experiences, and ensuring that every update contributes to commercial success. Working directly in Shopify and related tools, you’ll optimise product visibility, search and navigation, personalisation, and merchandising to ensure our clients’ customers always find the right products, at the right time, in the right way. You will be supported and overseen by StudioForty9’s E-Commerce Strategy Consultants to refine plans based on trading strategies and objectives. Additionally, internally you will work with business analysts, marketing and account management teams to align trading with product launches, promotions, new functionality, and wider marketing activity. Communication with clients is structured and periodic, through trading reports and monthly reviews, allowing focus where it matters most: driving commercial results. Overall Objective Deliver StudioForty9’s data-led trading and on-site optimization programmes across client e-commerce sites to:
- Increase online sales and conversion rates
- Improve customer experience and product discovery
- Maximise the commercial return from trading and merchandising activities
- Improve on customer lifetime value and retention rates
- Translate client growth strategies into measurable weekly and monthly actions
Measurable KPIs
- Growth in conversion rate, average order value (AOV), and revenue across assigned clients
- Consistent delivery of trading tasks within agreed timelines
- Demonstrated performance improvements through on-site actions
- Accuracy and quality in trading reporting and communication
- Client satisfaction and client retention
Skills And Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in e-commerce, out of which 2 years with focus on online trading, merchandising, or conversion optimisation, ideally in a fast-paced, data-driven agency or multi-brand environment
- Bias towards commercial impact, with a proven history of delivering measurable online revenue growth and achieving KPIs
- Strong analytical skills — ability to interpret e-commerce data, identify opportunities, and turn insights into practical trading actions
- Proven ability to plan and execute weekly and monthly trading calendars in line with commercial KPIs
- Solid understanding of on-site search, navigation, and merchandising principles
- Experience working with personalisation and optimisation tools to drive product discovery and increase AOV
- Strong organisational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (mandatory)

The tools / platforms you will be working with
- Shopify / Shopify Plus hands-on platform expertise - experience with BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce is also acceptable, but Shopify is the platform this role will be working with
- Merchandising & Personalisation Apps – Rebuy, Nosto, Boost AI Search, Klevu, Shogun
- Analytics & Reporting – GA4, Shopify Analytics, Looker Studio, Excel
- Collaboration Tools – Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom
Location Being based in Ireland is ideal, but not essential. We’re a flexible, remote-first team where results matter most. Our entire team is currently working remotely, and this role can be performed from any location within a 2 hour timezone difference with reliable connectivity. We maintain close collaboration through daily stand-ups, weekly catch-ups, and open communication on Slack and Zoom.
