OUR COMPANY
SimX is a fast-growing startup bringing virtual and augmented reality to medical simulation training. Our product is the first comprehensive professional-grade VR medical simulation system, and it is used by our customers to train physicians, nurses, paramedics and other allied health professionals. Since our product has become generally available, demand has exploded and we're in need of new team members to move our product forward.

THE JOB
The Head of Product will play a pivotal role in shaping SimX’s product vision, strategy, and execution across our VR training platform and content ecosystem. This role is responsible for defining and delivering a product roadmap that aligns with business objectives, user needs, and market trends. As a key leader within the organization, the Head of Product will manage and grow a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, and product operations professionals, and will work closely with engineering, sales, clinical, and customer-facing teams to drive impact and innovation.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Strategy & Ownership
- Define and communicate a clear product vision and strategy across platform, content, and supporting tools.
- Develop a multi-year roadmap that aligns with company goals, customer needs, and market opportunities.
- Analyze market trends, emerging technologies (VR/AR/AI), and regulatory developments to inform strategic priorities.
- Identify opportunities for partnerships, integrations, or acquisitions that strengthen the product ecosystem.
- Own product portfolio planning, including forecasting, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Represent the product function in executive and board-level planning discussions.
- Balance lifecycle management of existing offerings with new innovation and platform investments.
Execution & Delivery
- Build and lead a high-performing, inclusive product organization (product managers, developers, designers).
- Ensure the product roadmap is translated into actionable, agile plans with clear prioritization frameworks.
- Partner with Engineering, Marketing, Education, Customer Success, and Sales to align execution and resource planning.
- Integrate customer research, feedback, and data into product decisions and continuous improvement.
- Define and track KPIs related to adoption, usage, learning outcomes, retention, and revenue impact.
- Maintain operational excellence and predictable delivery across multiple workstreams.
Market & Platform Leadership
- Ensure differentiated, scalable, and user-centered experiences across all key markets.
- Partner with the Platform team to maintain performance, reliability, security, and developer enablement.
- Ensure adherence to data privacy, security, and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA, SOC2).
- Represent SimX externally as a product thought leader with partners and customers.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Hire, mentor, and develop a diverse team of product professionals.
- Define how product decisions are made—establishing transparent frameworks, rituals, and metrics.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.
- Build strong relationships across functions to align strategy and execution.

- Portfolio & Lifecycle Management – Skilled in balancing innovation, platform investments, and the growth/renewal of existing offerings across multiple markets.
- Cross-Functional Leadership – Proven ability to collaborate with engineering, content, clinical, GTM, and executive teams to set priorities and deliver results.
- Customer Insight – Deep commitment to understanding user problems through data, feedback, and research; able to translate complex customer needs into strategic priorities.
- Business & Financial Acumen – Experience with P&L ownership, resource allocation, forecasting, and aligning investments with company strategy.
- Regulatory & Market Awareness – Understanding of how healthcare, education, and government environments impact product strategy, privacy, and compliance.
- Data-Driven Decision Making – Proficient at using quantitative and qualitative insights to inform product strategy, portfolio decisions, and trade-offs.
- Execution & Scaling – Ability to operationalize strategy through clear frameworks, processes, and culture—scaling teams and practices for growth.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship – Experience building and developing high-performing, inclusive product teams with clear roles and accountability.
- Communication & Influence – Exceptional ability to articulate strategy and priorities to executive stakeholders, boards, partners, and cross-functional teams.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of professional experience in product management or closely related fi elds (e.g., program management, platform strategy, or technical product leadership).
- 5+ years of experience building and managing B2B or D2C software products, ideally in SaaS, healthcare, simulation, edtech, or VR/AR environments.
- 3+ years of experience in a senior leadership role (e.g., Director, Principal PM, Head/VP of Product) with responsibility for strategy, portfolio management, and cross-functional alignment.
- Proven success defi ning product strategy, launching complex products, and managing lifecycles in regulated or high-stakes industries (e.g., healthcare, defense, education).
- Demonstrated experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, and forecasting at the product or portfolio level.
- Expertise in agile methodologies, product lifecycle management, and organizational scaling.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive and board-level engagement
