Digital Marketing Operations Analyst
Job Description
Posted on: February 7, 2026
Overview
We're a stealth-stage team building software that transforms how modern marketing organizations operate. We're looking for someone who blends serious business analysis chops with deep, hands-on marketing operations experience across the full digital channel stack — someone who can sit with senior stakeholders, map real-world workflows end-to-end, and turn those insights into clear requirements that power new automations and product development.
This role lives at the intersection of ops, analysis, and execution. You'll reduce operational friction, sharpen measurement clarity, and pinpoint the highest-leverage opportunities to streamline execution across PPC, lifecycle (email + SMS), Meta, SEO, AEO/GEO, Reddit, and beyond. You won't just document what exists — you'll identify what's missing, what's broken, and what should be built next.
What You'll DoWorkflow Discovery & Operational Diagnostics
- Partner with the digital marketing team at a top-tier, $1Bn+ upper mid-market company to understand how their day-to-day marketing actually gets done across channels, teams, and tools. Embed directly into their operating rhythm, shadowing workflows and collecting dense, structured observational data through Scribe AI, transcription tools, screen captures, and detailed field notes — building the raw evidence base our team needs to identify automation opportunities and architect what gets built next.
- Sit alongside client marketing associates and observe execution in practice: how campaigns launch, how reports get pulled, how approvals bottleneck, how data moves (or doesn't) between platforms.
- Document workflows at a practical, granular level — capturing where time, approvals, handoffs, manual steps, and tool gaps create friction or introduce error.
- Map tooling and data touchpoints across the client's marketing ecosystem (ads platforms, CRM, analytics, lifecycle tools, CMS, attribution systems) at a high level, without needing to be an engineer.
Requirements & Specification Development
- Translate observations into clear, structured written deliverables: process maps, workflow diagrams, gap analyses, and prioritized opportunity lists.
- Write crisp, build-ready requirements that engineering can act on — with defined inputs, outputs, edge cases, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
- Support prioritization decisions by framing tradeoffs across impact, speed, confidence, cost, and downstream dependencies.
- Define what "success" looks like for every operational improvement: time saved, faster output, fewer revisions, cleaner reporting, tighter feedback loops.
Data Synthesis & Reporting
- Collect, organize, and synthesize large volumes of digital marketing operational data from across channels and platforms.
- Transform raw operational data into clear visualizations, interactive dashboards, and executive-ready reports that surface what matters and suppress what doesn't.
- Establish KPI and metric clarity for clients: what's being measured, what should be measured, what's trusted, and what's misleading.
Strategic Gap Identification
- Leverage your own digital marketing expertise to identify things clients should be doing but aren't doing at all — poor strategy implementation, missed channels, underutilized platform features, absent measurement frameworks, untapped automation opportunities.
- Help create repeatable playbooks for how we capture workflows, synthesize findings, and convert them into build-ready specs and product roadmap input for new automation tools
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work fluidly across the full stakeholder spectrum: executive team, digital marketing leadership, channel specialists, software engineers, project managers, and client-side operators.
- Facilitate alignment between what the business needs, what the product can do, and what engineering should build next.
What Success Looks Like
- We stop guessing what our mega-client needs and start making decisions based on observed reality and structured evidence.
- You feed our engineering team crisp, buildable, negotiable requirements — not vague wishlist
- Through your rigorous data collection and analysis, we consistently identify high-ROI automation and workflow optimization opportunities before our client even asks.
- Stakeholders feel supported, enabled, and understood — not "audited" or interrogated.
- We ship operational improvements quickly and can prove they worked with real data.
- Gaps in client marketing operations are surfaced proactively, not discovered retroactively.
Ideal BackgroundExperience: 4–7+ years in Marketing Operations, Business Analysis, MarTech product development, Growth Ops, RevOps, Strategy Ops, or Performance Marketing Analytics.
Channel Depth: Very strong working understanding of all of the following digital marketing channels — not just familiarity, but operational fluency in how campaigns are built, managed, measured, and optimized:
- PPC (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads — Search, Shopping, Performance Max)
- Lifecycle Marketing (Email + SMS — platforms like Klaviyo, HubSpot, Iterable, Braze)
- Meta Ads Management (Facebook + Instagram — campaign structures, audiences, creative workflows, reporting)
- AEO / GEO (Answer Engine Optimization / Generative Engine Optimization — how brands earn visibility in AI-generated answers across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, etc.)
- SEO (Technical, on-page, content strategy, and performance measurement)
- Reddit (Paid and organic community-based marketing strategies)
Analytical Rigor: Strong analytical skills and process-oriented thinking. You naturally decompose complex work into steps, dependencies, decision points, and measurable outcomes.
Ambiguity Tolerance: Comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving fast with imperfect information. You don't wait for perfect inputs — you build a working picture and iterate.
Ecosystem Fluency: Solid understanding of the modern marketing technology ecosystem — ads platforms, analytics suites, CRM, lifecycle tools, CMS, attribution, CDPs, and how data flows (or fails to flow) between them.
Writing & Synthesis: Excellent writing and synthesis skills — clear, structured, executive-ready. You can collect large volumes of operational data across channels and distill them into visualizations, interactive reports, and narrative summaries that drive decisions.
Collaboration: You work effectively with humans across every level — executive teams, digital marketing heads, channel specialists, engineers, and project managers. You communicate with clarity and adapt your register to the audience.
Skills We Value
- Requirements writing: clear inputs → outputs, edge cases, dependencies, and acceptance criteria
- Strong data visualization skills, transforming raw collected data into actionable insights via data visualizations, interactive reports, dashboards, etc.
- Process mapping and operational diagnostics across multi-channel marketing environments
- KPI and metric clarity: knowing what matters, what doesn't, what's trusted, and what's gamed
- Stakeholder interviewing, empathetic listening, and cross-functional communication
- High ownership, low ego, and strong independent judgment
- Ability to move between strategic thinking and tactical detail without losing either
Compensation & LogisticsBase Salary: ~$95K (dependent on experience, fit, and scope)
Benefits: Full coverage — healthcare, 401(k), life insurance, and more
Performance Incentives: Monthly, quarterly, and annual bonuses tied to the quality, depth, and operational impact of your analysis and deliverables. The sharper your insights and the faster they translate into buildable specs, the more you earn.
All-In Target Comp: $130K–$160K at the high end
Location: Mandatory travel for the first full week of the position, then remote 90% of the time.
Why This Role Matters
This is a foundational role in a startup building something that doesn't exist yet. If you're the type of person who can walk into a complex, multi-channel marketing environment, quickly understand how work actually happens at the ground level, synthesize what you find into structured insight, and translate that into clean execution specs and product requirements — you'll have massive leverage here. You'll shape what we build, how we build it, and how we prove it works.
