Who we're looking for

The media buyer's role has fundamentally changed. What was once a purely technical discipline now sits closer to financial analysis and growth strategy — and most of the market hasn't kept up. Half the industry calls itself "P&L-led." Few can actually back it up. This role is not for that person.

Our Paid Media Director thinks in commercial outcomes first. They connect channel performance to financial reality, not just platform dashboards. They know where ROAS lies, when to trust it, and when to look elsewhere.

Mindset

  • You assume complete ownership of outcomes — no blame, no deflection
  • You work with humility and relentless curiosity toward genuine excellence
  • You care deeply about the quality of work you produce and the people you produce it with

What you actually know how to do

  • Reconcile platform metrics against real P&L — not just report what the dashboards say
  • Diagnose what's driving a performance movement before anyone has to ask
  • Build testing roadmaps that prioritise business impact, not activity
  • Guide decisions using contribution margin, aMER, and LTV:CAC as primary lenses
  • Think across Meta, Google, and TikTok for eCommerce at a senior level
  • AI-native: you're running Claude or OpenClaw day-to-day, and experimenting with AI in live ad campaign execution — not just aware of it, using it

You're right for this if

  • ROAS is a starting point for you, not a destination
  • You've operated with real commercial exposure and true decision-making authority
  • You can spot the gap between what the platform says and what the business actually made

What you'll own

  • Full accountability for the paid media department — performance, training, escalations, P&L
  • Direct management of a SEM Specialist, Meta Specialist, and Creative resource
  • Client relationships end-to-end, from planning through to strategic presentations
  • Training, and mentoring the team — building a culture that keeps raising the bar
  • Contributing to strategic account growth and new business opportunities

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years in SEM/Paid Media, agency-side, at Director or senior lead level
  • Agency experience essential
  • Experience across eCommerce CMS platforms (Shopify, Magento, etc.)
