Role
JoVE is seeking a Science PR Specialist with strong media instincts, a passion for science, and hands-on experience in public relations, preferably within higher education, research, or science publishing. We are looking for someone who thrives on crafting compelling stories and directly engaging with journalists to secure high-impact media coverage.
Responsibilities
- Build and execute the strategy for JoVE’s PR campaigns, focusing on audience insights from academia.
- Organize campaign timelines and deliverables, ensuring consistent follow-through and delivery across all channels.
- Build and maintain relationships with key media (education, science, business) and lead proactive journalist outreach.
- Write and pitch press releases, case studies, and thought leadership content aligned with JoVE’s campaigns and product innovation.
- Develop and maintain media kits, institutional narratives, and outreach plans using tools such as MuckRack, LinkedIn, and Prowly. Work with external agency providers on PR strategy.
- Report on PR performance and make continuous improvements to improve performance.
Requirements
- A Master’s or PhD in Life Sciences.
- 6 years in public relations, preferably in academic publishing, edtech, or scientific institutions.
- Strategic mindset, proactive and independent.
- Strong written English, ability to translate complex topics into accessible, compelling stories.
- Familiarity with PR tools (MuckRack and Prowly) and social media platforms for journalist engagement.
- Confident, highly organized, with a passion for science and storytelling.
