Hennessey Digital, a leading search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing agency in North America, is seeking a strategic, client-focused Senior SEO Account Manager to lead a portfolio of accounts and drive measurable SEO performance. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients, owning strategy, execution, and overall account success while ensuring alignment with business goals.

As part of a fully remote, highly collaborative team, you’ll deliver white-glove service, lead high-level client conversations, and partner cross-functionally to execute data-driven SEO strategies. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple complex accounts in a fast-paced agency environment.

We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills, deep SEO expertise, and the ability to translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations, all while driving client satisfaction, retention, and growth.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Own and manage a portfolio of client accounts, serving as the primary strategic lead and trusted advisor
  • Lead all client communications, including strategy calls, performance reviews, and ongoing relationship management
  • Drive client success, satisfaction, and retention through proactive strategy and execution
  • Develop and oversee comprehensive, data-driven SEO strategies aligned with the client's business goals
  • Translate client objectives into clear KPIs, performance benchmarks, and growth plans
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust strategies based on performance data, algorithm updates, and competitive insights
  • Ensure all client deliverables meet high-quality standards and align with client expectations
  • Act as the “voice of the client,” advocating for client needs with internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with content, development, and paid media teams to drive integrated marketing strategies
  • Proactively identify risks, issues, and growth opportunities across accounts
  • Identify and recommend upsell or expanded service opportunities where appropriate
  • Own client performance outcomes, including traffic growth, rankings, and ROI
  • Present clear, actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Mentor and support SEO Account Managers
  • Provide feedback on deliverables and contribute to overall team development and performance
  • Contribute to internal process improvements, workflows, and SEO best practices

Experience

  • Minimum of sic (6)+ years of SEO experience
  • Minimum of five (5)+ years in a client-facing role, preferably within an agency environment
  • Proven track record of driving measurable SEO growth and client retention
  • Extensive experience managing multiple, high-value, or complex client accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategy and influence client decision-making at all levels
  • Deep understanding of Organic Search, with working knowledge of PPC, Social Media, and Content Marketing
  • Strong technical SEO expertise, including hreflang tags, canonical URLs, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, redirects, schema markup, and internal/external linking strategies
  • Advanced experience with Google Analytics and similar analytics platforms
  • Strong proficiency in SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or similar
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Expert-level experience dealing with executives and other top-level decision-makers
  • Able to handle stressful situations and deadlines well

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience in legal or other highly competitive local SEO markets

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
