Jessica Jensen Takes the Helm at LinkedIn
LinkedIn has announced that Jessica Jensen, previously the CMO of Indeed, will step into the role of Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. She will oversee global marketing, brand, and corporate strategy, reporting directly to COO Dan Shapero starting January 21.
Jensen takes over from Melissa Selcher, who left LinkedIn in May after a notable tenure. Jensen's impressive background includes leadership roles at Apple, Facebook, and OpenTable, showcasing her extensive experience in the marketing domain.
At Indeed, she managed marketing efforts on a global scale, overseeing brand communication, product, and acquisition strategies. Now, at LinkedIn, she faces new challenges with a user base of 1 billion and 65 million job seekers weekly, a significant increase compared to Indeed’s audience.
The timing of Jensen's appointment is crucial; LinkedIn recently reported a 10% increase in revenue for Q1 2025 and introduced an AI-powered Hiring Assistant. However, the company also faced challenges, including layoffs of 700 employees due to changing consumer behaviors and revenue growth slowdowns.
Jensen is no stranger to navigating crises, having led marketing teams during turbulent times at Facebook, a food startup, and OpenTable/KAYAK. Her advocacy for women in the workplace is well-known, emphasizing the need for flexible work arrangements.
Jensen holds a B.A. from Amherst College and an MBA from the Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires.
