Senior SEO Specialist
Job Description
Posted on: June 20, 2025
Company & Role Overview
Zyphe is a rapidly growing startup re‑imagining the large and growing identity verification space with a privacy‑first, decentralized identity platform that lets businesses onboard customers in seconds while keeping personal data off their servers. We’ve built our platform for KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), and KYB (Know Your Business) from the ground up on Web3 principles to give users greater control over their identities and personal information. Our technology enables businesses to streamline customer onboarding while maintaining robust data protection. We operate in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment, and we aim to simplify compliance processes while giving individuals greater control over privacy and data security.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Execute Comprehensive SEO Strategy: Create and implement an end-to-end SEO plan covering technical SEO, on-page/content SEO, and off-page tactics. In a competitive industry, this means deploying advanced strategies (not just basics) to help Zyphe outrank rivals. You’ll plan campaigns that span the full funnel – ensuring we capture audience interest at every stage, from awareness to conversion.
- Keyword Research & Content Optimization: Conduct thorough keyword research to identify high-impact opportunities and content gaps. Guide the content team in creating SEO-friendly content (blog posts, landing pages, glossary terms, etc.), ensuring each piece is optimized for relevant keywords and user intent. You will also optimize on-page elements (headings, SEO copy, internal links) and craft compelling title tags & meta descriptions to improve click-through rates.
- Technical SEO & Website Health: Use your technical SEO skills to audit and enhance our website’s performance. This includes optimizing site speed, mobile-friendliness, crawlability, and indexation. Implement structured data/schema markups on key pages to enrich search results. Regularly use tools like Screaming Frog to identify and fix technical issues, ensuring the website follows best practices for search engines (e.g. fixing broken links, improving site architecture, and monitoring Core Web Vitals).
- Backlink Strategy and Off-Page SEO: Develop and manage a robust backlink acquisition strategy to improve our domain authority. This means identifying quality link opportunities, reaching out for guest posts or partnerships, and creating link-worthy content. You’ll also perform bi-weekly backlink audits, analyzing our link profile and disavowing toxic/spammy links to protect our rankings. Staying on top of competitor backlinks is key – you will monitor what competitors are doing and emulate or outperform their effective tactics.
- Local SEO & GEO-Targeting: Take charge of our local search optimization. Given that nearly 46% of Google searches have local intent, you will ensure Zyphe is highly visible in geo-targeted searches. This involves optimizing our Google Business Profile, managing local directory listings/citations, and creating geo-specific landing pages or content. Your goal is to boost our presence in local map packs and search results for target regions.
- Analytics, Tracking & Continuous Improvement: Use SEO analytics tools (Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush, etc.) to track performance – monitoring keyword rankings, organic traffic, click-through rates, and conversion metrics. You will provide regular reports on SEO progress and use data to refine strategies. Spotting trends and testing results are part of your process – you’ll continuously glean insights from the data and adjust our SEO tactics for maximum ROI.
- Competitive Analysis: Keep a pulse on the competition. In this fast-moving space, you’ll research competitor websites, content, and keywords to identify opportunities for us to outperform them. By understanding what’s working for others and where their gaps are, you’ll help Zyphe stay one step ahead with innovative SEO approaches.
- Collaboration with Design and Development: Work closely with our senior UI/UX designer and development team to ensure website changes are SEO-friendly. While you won’t be executing primary design tasks, you’ll provide input on SEO considerations in design (e.g. proper heading structures, text-to-image balance, mobile UX) and might use Webflow to implement minor page updates. Your good eye for design and usability will help marry SEO best practices with an engaging user experience. (For example, you might coordinate on designing new product pages or a glossary section – making sure they are both visually appealing and search-optimized.) Excellent communication is essential here: you should be able to clearly explain SEO needs to designers/developers and work together on solutions.
- Results Orientation: Ultimately, you own Zyphe’s organic growth metrics. You will set and meet targets for key SEO KPIs such as organic traffic, lead conversion rates from organic channels, and improved search engine rankings for strategic keywords. A results-driven mindset is crucial – we’re looking for someone who continually strives to exceed goals and who can adapt strategy in a competitive environment to deliver business results.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven SEO Experience: 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience (specialist or similar role), with a track record of driving organic traffic and lead growth in competitive industries. You should be comfortable devising strategies to rank in saturated niches (e.g. finance, legal, SaaS) where advanced tactics are needed to stand out.
- Technical & On-Page SEO Expertise: Solid knowledge of on-page, off-page, and technical SEO is essential. You’ve conducted site audits and implemented fixes for issues like crawling/indexing problems, page speed improvements, mobile optimization, and schema markup. Familiarity with HTML/CSS basics or Webflow’s designer is a plus (so you can make on-page tweaks directly when needed).
- SEO Tools Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard SEO and analytics tools is required. This includes Webflow (our site’s CMS/builder), Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, keyword research tools, and SEO suites like Ahrefs or SEMrush, as well as crawling tools like Screaming Frog. Mastery of these tools will help you audit performance, discover opportunities, and track progress effectively.
- Content and Keyword Strategy: Strong ability to conduct keyword research and content optimization. You know how to find the keywords that matter at each stage of the funnel and guide content creation accordingly. Experience optimizing content for search intent and usability (layout, formatting, multimedia) is important. If you have experience creating or managing content (blog posts, landing page copy, etc.) with SEO in mind, that’s a big plus.
- Link Building & Off-Page Skills: Demonstrated success in building high-quality backlinks and managing backlink profiles. You should be familiar with a variety of link-building techniques (outreach, content marketing, PR, etc.) and understand how to develop a clean, authoritative backlink profile (including when and how to disavow bad links). Experience with tools like Moz, Majestic, or others for backlink analysis is beneficial.
- Local SEO Knowledge: Proficiency in local SEO and geo-targeting strategies. You know how to optimize Google Business Profile pages, manage NAP (Name/Address/Phone) consistency, gather local reviews, and use tools like Moz Local or BrightLocal to improve local search presence. If Zyphe targets specific regions or has localized offerings, you’ll be our go-to expert on capturing those local searchers.
- Design Collaboration & UX Sense: While not a designer, you have a good eye for user-centric design and understand how SEO and UX work together. You can collaborate with designers to ensure that new site features or pages are both beautiful and search-engine friendly. For instance, you might suggest SEO-friendly design tweaks (like text in HTML instead of in images, or ensuring a responsive design) that maintain visual appeal. Experience working in cross-functional teams with designers or developers is highly valued.
- Analytical & Results-Driven: Data analysis and critical thinking are second nature to you. You make decisions based on analytics and are comfortable setting up dashboards or reports to monitor SEO KPIs. You are results-driven, constantly experimenting and iterating to improve performance. The ideal candidate can point to examples of how their SEO work led to measurable business outcomes (e.g. X% increase in organic conversions, Y number of new leads/month from SEO).
- Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. You should be able to articulate complex SEO concepts in simple terms for team members or stakeholders who are less familiar with SEO. Whether it’s writing a brief for content writers or presenting a strategy update to executives, you communicate clearly and persuasively.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Media, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. More important is your practical experience and up-to-date knowledge of SEO best practices (Google’s algorithms, industry trends, etc.). Continuous learning and staying on top of SEO trends (e.g. algorithm updates, new tools) is expected.
