Role Overview
The primary responsibility of the Local SEO Manager is to manage and optimize client Google Business Profiles, improve local map rankings, and produce clear, data-backed performance reports that show real impact.
Key Responsibilities
Google Business Profile Optimization
- Fully optimize all GBP fields including name, address, phone, categories, hours, and attributes
- Write keyword-optimized business descriptions aligned with local search intent
- Add and manage services and products with detailed, conversion-focused descriptions
- Create custom Q&A sections targeting long-tail local and near-me searches
- Upload and manage high-quality photos, including geo-relevant assets as part of ongoing optimization
GBP Posting and Engagement
- Plan structured Google Post strategies including updates, tips, promotions, and project highlights
- Ensure all posts follow posting instructions including correct CTAs and formatting
- Review and QA posts to ensure consistency and optimization standards are met
Competitor and Market Analysis
- Identify top competitors in local map packs and organic results
- Analyze competitor categories, keywords, posts, reviews, photos, and engagement activity
- Review competitor backlinks and citation sources
- Run GeoGrid comparisons to identify ranking gaps and opportunities
- Adjust local strategies based on competitive insights
Local Authority and Relevance
- Audit and ensure citation consistency across major and niche directories
- Verify NAP consistency and submit corrections for indexing when needed
- Coordinate service-area and city-specific landing pages linked directly to GBP profiles
Proximity, Relevance, and Prominence Signals
- Target city plus service and near-me keyword variations
- Ensure Google Maps embeds are properly placed on contact or footer sections
- Optimize photo metadata and geo-relevance as part of long-term strategy
Monitoring and Reporting
- Run GeoGrid heatmap scans to track local rankings
- Monitor GBP Insights including calls, clicks, and direction requests
- Review Google Search Console regularly for local visibility signals
- Deliver monthly strategy updates based on performance trends and data
Must-Have Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

- You must provide real local ranking heatmaps using tools such as Local Falcon, Local Viking, or equivalent
- You must be able to clearly explain the actions taken to move rankings, step by step
- Proven hands-on experience optimizing Google Business Profiles beyond basic setup
- Strong understanding of service area business SEO including proximity bias and grid radius strategy
- Demonstrated experience ranking competitive local or home service niches
- Direct experience with citations and NAP consistency and knowing when they matter and when they do not
- Ability to track, measure, and report Local SEO performance beyond vanity metrics
- Must show examples of work you personally executed, not work delegated to another team or agency

Work Schedule
Full-time

9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST
Compensation
$800 to $1,000 per month depending on experience
