Overdroid is a European game studio focused on building innovative online strategy experiences. Our flagship title, Hexarchia, is a competitive strategy game where players face each other in tactical battles on hex-based boards inspired by great civilizations and classic board games. We are a remote-friendly team working across Europe and united by our passion for deep strategy gameplay and long-term player engagement.
The role
We are looking for a Head of Community & Player Engagement to build and lead our global player community around Hexarchia and future titles.
In this role, you will be responsible for the overall community strategy, daily operations across channels, and the long-term relationship with our players. You will create programs, events and communication frameworks that keep players informed, engaged and excited, while providing clear feedback loops from the community back to our development and product teams.
This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable designing the vision, coordinating a team, and personally jumping into channels to talk with players when needed.
You will work closely with the Founders, Product, Marketing, Support and Creative teams to ensure that community insights are reflected in our roadmap and that our players feel heard and valued.
Key responsibilities
- Define and own the community & player engagement strategy for Hexarchia and future Overdroid titles
- Lead the day-to-day operations of our community channels (e.g. Discord, X, Telegram, forums, in-game messaging, email, social platforms)
- Design and run community programs such as tournaments, events, AMAs, feedback sessions, early access groups, ambassador programs and creator collaborations
- Develop a clear, consistent tone of voice and communication guidelines for all player-facing channels
- Coordinate with Product and Marketing to plan and announce updates, patches, seasons, events and new game features in an engaging and transparent way
- Implement and maintain feedback loops so that player insights, requests and pain points reach the right internal teams in a structured format
- Define and track community KPIs (growth, activity, sentiment, retention, engagement with events and content) and report regularly to leadership
- Recruit, onboard and manage a small team of community managers and moderators (internal and/or external)
- Build strong relationships with key community members, creators and clan/guild leaders, supporting them with information, assets and opportunities
- Ensure community policies, rules and moderation practices are clear, fair and consistently applied, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for players
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in community management, player engagement or social/media roles in gaming, esports or closely related digital industries
- Proven experience building and scaling online communities for PC, console or mobile games (ideally multiplayer or competitive titles)
- Strong understanding of player behavior, online communities, and live game operations
- Hands-on experience managing multiple community platforms (e.g. Discord, X, Telegram, Reddit, forums, streaming platforms)
- Demonstrated ability to design and run community programs and events that drive engagement and retention
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken), with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and channels
- Experience working in remote, international teams, comfortable collaborating across time zones and disciplines
- Data-informed mindset: ability to define and interpret community metrics, and translate them into actionable insights
- Valid right to work in Poland (work permit or citizenship).
Nice to have
- Experience with strategy games or competitive multiplayer titles
- Familiarity with content creator ecosystems (streamers, YouTubers, community leaders) and how to collaborate with them
- Previous experience building or managing a team of community managers or moderators
- Basic understanding of in-game economies, digital items and live events from a player and communication perspective
