Company Description

Modicum Theatre Perth is an independent, not-for-profit theatre company located in Perth, Western Australia. We focus on producing classic and modern plays, with a special emphasis on supporting emerging playwrights and creative talents in Perth. Since 2013, our experienced team has successfully staged 15 productions, aiming to produce at least three shows annually. We offer a wide range of acting and production opportunities for members aged 18 and above. Our rehearsals and performances take place at several venues, including Murdoch University, the University of Western Australia, and Applecross.

Role Description

This is a contract, remote role for a Freelance Writer. The Freelance Writer will be responsible for creating engaging content for theatre productions, including scripts, promotional materials, and blog posts. Day-to-day tasks include conducting research, collaborating with the production team, editing, and proofreading. The writer will also contribute to content strategy and work to ensure all written materials align with the theatre's mission and goals.

Qualifications

• Creative writing, scriptwriting, and storytelling skills
• Experience in conducting research and developing content strategy
• Proofreading and editing skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• Familiarity with theatre production is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Theatre, or a related field is preferred
