About the role

Growth Marketing Director

Level: Director  ·  Team: Marketing ·  Reports to: VP of Marketing  ·  Location: Remote (U.S.)  ·  Full-time

About Flute

Flute is the payments platform for Main Street. More than 30,000 businesses, from salons and repair shops to family-owned retailers, process over $12 billion a year on Flute, directly or through the partners and software they already use. Since 2005, we've built payments that do their job, so owners can do theirs.

About the role

We're hiring a Director, Growth Marketing to own the top and mid-funnel engine that drives pipeline for Flute. This is a high-ownership role: you'll set the demand gen strategy, run the programs, manage the budget, and be directly accountable to Lead/MQL and inbound pipeline targets.

You'll report to the Head of Marketing and work closely with sales, marketing and revenue operations, content and partner teams.

What you'll own

  • Pipeline and MQL targets — you hold the number and own the strategy and execution to hit it, including proven and experimental programs.

  • Paid media programs across LinkedIn, Meta, Google, and content syndication networks, optimizing for cost-per-qualified-lead and cost of acquisition. You own the strategy to expand and test in new channels.

  • Launch and own AI SDR motions to drive inbound for direct sales and ISVs through a test-and-optimize approach. Build into a sustained inbound channel.

  • AI programs – own and build our strategy to optimize for AI, including SEO/AIO, AI SDR outbound campaigns, platforms and experimentation. AI Agent building to improve signal identification and action across prospect groups.

  • HubSpot marketing automation strategy — weigh in on and own outcome for campaign builds, lead scoring, list segmentation, nurture workflows, and reporting.

  • Full-funnel reporting — tracking performance from impression to closed-won and surfacing actionable insights for the sales and marketing leadership team.

  • Budget management — allocating spend across channels, running experiments, and reallocating based on performance.

  • Sales alignment — partnering closely with the sales team to ensure lead quality, set SLAs, and build feedback loops that improve targeting over time.

  • Partner marketing — identify opportunities to increase marketing opportunities with our partners (associations, ISVs, etc) and optimizing current marketing

What success looks like

In your first year:

  • Grow inbound pipeline through proven and new channels

  • Optimize existing channels, nurtures to increase conversion rates and reduce CPL/CAC

  • Build with AI – use AI to streamline workflows, improve signal-based messaging/outreach, build SDR motion through tools like Clay/Claude.

  • Reduce CPL from our paid media campaigns, build affiliate programs and run experimental channels to drive high quality inbound.

Minimum qualifications

  • 10 years of B2B demand generation experience, with a track record of owning pipeline targets and delivering results.

  • Hands-on HubSpot expertise — you've built workflows, managed lead scoring models, and pulled your own reports. You don't need ops to do this for you.

  • Proven experience managing paid media budgets for B2B businesses (LinkedIn, Meta, and Google Ads) with real fluency in what works and what doesn't.

  • Experience managing SEO agency or SEO leads, working cross functionally with brand content and brand creative teams to create high quality outputs that get noticed by AIO.

  • Experience marketing to SMB or mid-market audiences — you understand the buying motion, the channels, and what messaging resonates.

  • Strong analytical instincts — you can connect campaign activity to pipeline and revenue, and you know when a number is off.

  • Comfort working cross-functionally with sales, particularly on lead quality, follow-up SLAs, and funnel visibility.

  • Proven experience building with AI – including agents, AI SDR motions, etc.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in payments, fintech, or financial services.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

  • Experience marketing to associations or member-based organizations.

  • Familiarity with ABM tactics, even if you haven't run a formal ABM program.

  • Experience building a demand gen function from an early stage — you've set up the infrastructure, not just run programs on top of it.
