Job Description

Posted on: July 29, 2025

Fireslug Studios is starting work on new projects and wants to bolster the team in preparation.

Please note: This role is open only to applicants based in the UK or Ireland who can provide examples of marketing materials created for games, particularly for digital gaming storefronts such as Steam.

Note: Fireslug Studios is currently in a pre-funding stage, and our entire team is working remotely on a voluntary basis. We hope to offer paid in-house or freelance roles once we secure funding or on successful project release. We provide references and opportunities for portfolio development to those looking to build a career in the wider industry. Additionally, we arrange for sharing elements of your contributions professionally, subject to our non-disclosure agreement (NDA), regardless of the project’s completion state.

Role Overview:

Join our team to shape the visual identity and online presence of our games as we approach launch. Ideally, you’ll bring both graphic design and social media skills—but we welcome applicants with strength in either. Working remotely, you’ll create eye-catching marketing assets and engaging content, collaborating with artists and developers to ensure a consistent look and voice across platforms. There’s also room to grow with us, contributing to the branding and promotion of future titles.

Responsibilities:

  • Visual Asset Creation: Design visual materials for Steam pages, social media posts, promotional art, and website graphics—ensuring all assets align with each game’s style and tone.
  • Social Media Management: Plan, create, and schedule engaging content across social platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), helping to build and maintain an active and enthusiastic player community.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with the game development team to ensure marketing materials are visually consistent with the game and accurately reflect current features, tone, and progress.
  • Branding and Presentation: Contribute to the overall branding of current and upcoming titles, developing cohesive visual styles for campaigns, store pages, and digital presence.
  • Adaptability and Growth: Respond to feedback and shifting priorities with quick turnarounds, and contribute ideas for expanding the studio’s reach and evolving its public identity across future projects.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or equivalent software.
  • Experience creating marketing assets for games, including social media posts, promotional art, and store page visuals (e.g., Steam).
  • Strong understanding of visual branding and how to communicate tone and style through design.
  • Familiarity with managing and scheduling content across social media platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
  • Clear communication skills for effective collaboration with developers, artists, and other team leads.
  • Ability to work with brand guidelines and adapt visuals to fit various platforms and formats.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with website design and layouts for game or product pages.
  • Basic web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for creating or updating studio or game-related websites.
  • Prior experience with project management software such as Trello, Jira, or Height.
  • Understanding of SEO and web best practices for optimizing visibility and performance.
  • Ability to create simple motion graphics or edit short-form video content for marketing use (e.g., trailers, social clips).

Commitment:

  • Minimum of 12 hours per week or equivalent contributions.
  • Able to attend and contribute to weekly meetings.
  • Available to respond to questions and queries during weekdays as needed.

Benefits:

  • Profit-Sharing Opportunity: As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to earn a percentage of the project's profits upon successful completion. This profit-sharing arrangement is designed to reward your contributions and align our team’s success with the success of the project.
  • Flexible Work Hours: Enjoy the freedom to structure your work schedule in a way that best suits your productivity and lifestyle, as long as project milestones and deadlines are met. We value a balanced approach to work that supports both individual well-being and team success.
  • Staff Meetups & Team-Building Events: Participate in semi-regular staff meetups to stay connected with the team, as well as team building events where we play games together.
  • Portfolio-Friendly Workplace: You’ll have the freedom to use your work for us in your personal portfolio — with a quick thumbs-up from us first. We’re all about helping you showcase your skills while respecting project guidelines.
