About Citizenly
Citizenly is a citizen journalism platform launching its founding writer cohort. We're a small, mission-driven team building a structured, civil home for community storytelling — the kind of local stories traditional media no longer covers. This role sits within Digital Projects, the limited company behind Citizenly.
The role
We're hiring an Outreach Coordinator on an 8-week paid contract to run a focused recruitment campaign for founding writers.
This is a hands-on delivery role: daily outreach, list-building, and pipeline management. You'll work directly with the founder and use Claude (Anthropic's AI assistant) as a daily working tool for research, drafting, and message refinement.
The campaign is already designed. Your job is to execute it consistently. This is not a strategy role.
What you'll actually do
- Build and maintain a live prospect list of writers across Substack, Medium, Reddit, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and journalism networks
- Send personalised 1:1 outreach messages — every message references the prospect's actual work. No templates.
- Manage the response pipeline in a shared system of record, route warm conversations to the founder, and follow up consistently
- Engage substantively in 2–3 relevant writer and journalist communities each week
- Draft 2 short LinkedIn posts per week for the company's page
- Submit a clean weekly metrics report
The campaign goal: 20 founding writers signed in 8 weeks.
Who we're looking for
- Driven and consistent — daily output is the job, and consistency beats brilliance here
- Proven commercial experience of outbound marketing
- Demonstrable knowledge of using Claude as a daily working tool
- A clear, natural writer and speaker in English
- Mission-aligned — you care about local journalism, storytelling, or independent media
- Coachable, low ego, open to strong opinions

- A marketing degree or agency background
- A polished portfolio
